In Hebrews 11:23, the Bible says Moses’ parents hid him and protected his life “because they saw that the child was beautiful.” Beyond this particular circumstance with Moses, what could be said for all children?
What makes for a beautiful child?
- Just the child itself—the mere existence of a little one made in the image of God is beautiful (Gen. 1:26-27; 9:6). All children are precious and of infinite worth / value—this means in the womb or out and includes all nationalities and colors.
- A child is also beautiful when we step back and see the way they fit into God’s plan—wherever that may be! Moses was special because he was chosen by the Lord to lead Israel out of slavery and into a new era. Each child has the potential to make special contributions to the church of Jesus Christ.
- A child is beautiful when they are seen in the dynamic of a loving and trusting relationship. So many need to be shown love and mercy. They need someone to protect them and to show them the life and message of Jesus. Raising a child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord is beautiful (Eph. 6:4).
Parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles, foster parents, et. al.—we are praying for you! Thank you for caring for and protecting these beautiful children by showing them the love of Jesus.
