Baptism

Most religious discussions will most always include Baptism. What does the Bible tell us about Baptism?

Baptism is necessary to be saved! Acts 2:38 says Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. We are baptized for the remission of sins.

What is Baptism? Romans 6:4 says Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. We are buried with Christ in baptism and will walk in newness of life.

What is the purpose of Baptism? Acts 22:16 says And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Baptism washes sins away.

Who should be Baptized? Romans 10:17 says So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Additionally, Acts 2:37 says Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Baptism reflects obedience.

Scripture provides multiple examples of conversion in relation to Baptism: Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8), Pentecostians (Acts 2), Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9, 22, 26), Cornelius (Acts 10), & The Philippian Jailor (Acts 16).

What results when one is Baptized? I Peter 3:21 says There is also an antitype which now saves us— baptism (not the removal of filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Baptism = salvation.
