Example – a pattern or model, as of something to be imitated or avoided. We see good and bad examples of how we should present ourselves everyday. From Hollywood we are shown examples of how the world wants us to present ourselves. Our young people are being shown examples of how the world wants them to behave.
From the Bible we see how God expects us present ourselves to the world. Matthew 5:16 “…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
We are to be an example of God our Father through our good works. People of the world should be able to see God through our works. We should live our lives so as we are an example to the rest of the world for God’s Word.
I Timothy 4:12 “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”
Even our youth are commanded to be an example to the world and to believers. Our youth are challenged to be an example in how they talk, how they behave, in the ways in which they love, in their faith, and in their purity. These are great ways to be examples to others and to shine the light of God our Father into the world.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear
Ephesians 5:15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise
Ephesians 5:1-2 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us.
Acts 5:29 … “We must obey God rather than men.”
I Corinthians 10:31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God
