I, like you, am so ready to begin assembling again in our building! I am an extravert! By definition, I LOVE PEOPLE. I miss you. We will assemble again! We will assemble with an eye on safety. I am thankful for our Elders as they are constantly monitoring, meeting, and make sure we can assemble again, safely. As we begin to slowly move back to some sense of “normalcy,” let us remember, that while we all desire to return to the building, we must also desire to leave the building. Wade Webster shared these thoughts recently with a post entitled, “The church has left the building.”
- The church needs to leave the building & teach the lost (Acts 20:20).
- The church needs to leave the building & restore the erring (Galatians 6:1; James 5:19-20).
- The church needs to leave the building & visit the widows, the fatherless, & the sick (James 1:27).
- The church needs to leave the building & get into one another’s homes (Romans 12:13, I Peter 4:9).
I am thankful we have modern comforts while we work, teach, and worship in our building. We all love and appreciate our brothers and sisters in Christ as we gather together! As we look to the future, as we long for the days to “be together again,” and as we are moved by the thoughts of embracing one another, let us not forget the church is not the building. We recognize the importance of having a locale for the church to meet and the need to have a base from which to operate. I am thankful we have a street address and a post office box. I am ready to return to the building to share time with you, but I am ready to leave the building to share Jesus with the world!
