Franklin Camp was an early Preacher who stated that 3 out of 4 people are dealing with chal- lenges or suffering in some way another. As I reflect on my life and as I see my family, friends, and those around me deal with up hill battles, I agree! Suffering, challenges, and despair seem to be always be close by. Given all of these challenges, how can we face today?
We can face today because of what the Hebrew writer tells us in Hebrews 6:19, “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;…” The seas of life will continue to toss us back and forth but we will be immovable so long as we are grounded in Christ.
We can face today because we know our toil as Christians is not in vain. Just as the farmer who plows from sun-up to sun-down, sweating & toiling, while being uncertain of what the reward will be, Christians can toil with confidence. I Corinthians 9:10 tells us “Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.”
We can face today because if we are obedient & faithful Christians, our name will be written in the Lamb’s book of life (Revelation 21:27). Obedient Christians can rest upon the promise of God (Hebrews 6:13-18) and we can face today!
