Since the latter part of the summer and up through this weekend, I have attended several family “get togethers.” I am blessed to have relatives through cousins (and one aunt who is still living) and to be able to call others “family” due to my marriage. Additionally, I love being able to gather with my church family each Sunday and Wednesday. When I think about the importance of “family,” I am reminded of the church and how lucky we are! When we reflect on “the church,” we are reminded:
-Christ is the head of the church. Eph. 1:22-23
-Christ died for the church. Eph. 5:22-32
-Salvation is found in Christ. Acts 4:12
-God’s wisdom is made known. Eph. 3:10
-To glorify God in the church. Eph. 3:21
-To preach to every creature. Matt. 28:18-20
-To preach to the world. Mark 16:15-16
-The church is God’s institution. I Cor. 1:2
-The church is the body of Christ. Col. 1:18-24
-The church is God’s kingdom. John 3:5
As we go out this week and face challenges, we not only have families & the church we can cling to, but because of Christ, we have a home we can long for!
