Sixteen years ago today—our country was forever changed.
Changed in how we view ourselves and others. Changed in how we conduct business. Changed in how we go about our daily lives.
As a country, it is important that we look back to this day and continue to recognize it as significant. We seek to remember what took place so that the lessons will not be lost and lives will not have been given in vain.
As Christians, there are other monumental days that we mark as significant. There are events that have left us forever changed.
Of course, it all centers around Jesus.
His coming to this earth, dying on the cross, and conquering the grave left the world forever changed.
He left and indelible mark
.
Even today, when men & women are introduced to Jesus Christ, when they understand who he is and what he has called us to do, upon submission and obedience to him, they are forever changed.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Cor. 5:17) We are forever changed.
“Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.” (Rom. 6:3-5) We are forever changed.
Jesus changes death to life…chaos to peace…despair to hope.
Let us remember how and why we are forever changed.
