Our workplaces expect a certain way to be followed for carrying out the required tasks. When we hire someone to complete a job for us, we expect the job to be completed based on our expectations & specifications. When we place an order at a restaurant, we expect to receive what we requested! Why then, do we think we can pick & choose how to worship The Creator? Expectations are in place for all facets of life and expectations from God are in place when we worship Him. When it comes to worship, God expects us to be in line with John 4:23-24, But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. The five acts of worship are:
Lord’s Supper Acts 20:7
– Instituted by Jesus Christ 1 Corinthians 11:23-28
– Communion 1 Corinthians 10:16
Singing Ephesians 5:19
– Teaching & admonish Colossians 3:16
– Hymns sung Matthew 26:30
Praying Acts 2:42
– Pray without ceasing 1 Thess. 5:17
– Pray everywhere 1 Timothy 2:8
Teaching Acts 2:42
– The Word II Timothy 4:1-4
– Teaching all nations Matthew 28:18-20
Giving 1 Corinthians 16:1-2
– As proposed II Corinthians 9:6-8
Paul Sain reminds us worship is, “action motivated from the heart of reverence for the Divine, with the knowledge of who He is and what He has done for us.” Each Sunday let us worship in spirit & truth as we seek to be pleasing to God and not self.
