Cloudy skies are rolling in
And not a friend around to help me
From all the places I have been
And I feel like going home…~Unknown
Many times, we deal with troubles and trials so much we feel all doors are closed. Job 14:1 says, “Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. He comes forth like a flower and fades away; he flees like a shadow and does not continue.” Our challenges do more than haunt us sometimes, they pursue us to the point we feel exhausted & overwhelmed. Like Job, we may feel trouble is on every hand.
That great news is we were not made for this place. We were made to pursue a relationship with Christ and submit our life to Him so we can truly go home when all these burdens are over. Let us remember:
- Heaven is a prepared place (John 14:1-6).
- We can rejoice if our name is written there (Luke 10:20).
- Heaven’s beauty is indescribable (I Cor. 2:9).
- In Heaven, tears, pain, & death do not exist (Revelation 21:1-4).
- Heaven is rest for the weary laborer (Hebrews 4:9-11).
- Heaven provides rest for the troubled (II Thessalonians 1:7-9).
- We will be forever be with the Lord in Heaven (I Thess.4:17).
We may feel alone. We may be hurting. But let us never stop wanting to go home.
