When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? (Psalms 8:3-4)
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. (Psalms 19:1-4)
I am in awe of the power of stars.
· Our Sun produces the power of 400 hydrogen bombs every second.
· Yet, that really is not that much compared to other stars.
· The Pistol Star is 100 times bigger than our Sun and produces 10 million times more power.
· Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who spread out the earth above the waters, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who made the great lights, for his steadfast love endures forever; the sun to rule over the day, for his steadfast love endures forever; the moon and stars to rule over the night, for his steadfast love endures forever. (Psalms 136:3-9)
I am in awe of the number of stars.
· Scientists have estimated that there could potentially be 200 billion trillion stars in the universe.
· That is such a large number that it is practically meaningless.
· Yet, the Creator knows them all.
· To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name, by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power not one is missing. (Isaiah 40:25-26)
But, most of all, I am in awe of the One who made the stars.
· He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. (Psalms 147:4-5)
· The One who spoke even the stars into existence is infinite in power and knowledge.
· The One who made the stars is worthy of praise and worship.
· Let us be in awe of Him and His amazing creation!
