How scared would you be if you knew a lion was on the loose?
Last week a lion escaped from the circus.
Before you get too worried, you should know two things: 1. The lion has already been apprehended. 2. The incident to place near Rome, Italy—far away from the friendly confines of Barren County Kentucky.
However, for approximately five hours, there was panic and fear among the masses until the beast was captured.
Five hours doesn’t really sound like a very long time…until you consider that it is time spent with a lion! Then it sounds almost like an eternity!
So…hearing about this lion loose in the City of Seven Hills (Rome), it got me to thinking about the occasions where Scripture mentions lions that are on the prowl.
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8)
What did they do in Rome with a lion on the loose? In turn, what should we do about the devil?
1. Let people know
· We know the devil is on the prowl, it would be shameful to remain quiet.
2. Warned the citizens to stay vigilant and safe
· The only safe place to be is in the Father’s house (John 14:3; Luke 15:17).
3. Sedated and captured the beast
· While we cannot sedate the devil, we can—by the grace and mercy of God—defeat him (1 Pet. 5:9; James 4:7; 1 John 4:4).
Let us remember the Lion who breaks seals, carrying out God’s plan of salvation, and offers hope and comfort to all who walk with Him.
And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that He can open the scroll and its seven seals.” (Rev. 5:5)
There are lions among us. Are we prepared? Have we let others know?
