Notes From The Campaign Trail

I am extremely thankful for the political process in our country. I am appreciative for the framers of our constitution and all military personnel who allow our system of government to work better than anyone else’s on the planet! As imperfect as the system is, our form of government & the way we elect our leaders permits everyone a voice. The last election season was no different. Those running for office had their day in the sun as they got their message out. I didn’t agree with all the candidates running for office and I don’t always agree with our leaders. However, I do appreciate the energy & intentionality that’s put into getting one’s point made. As I observed those running races, I wandered how grand it would be if Christians could mimic the desire, time, and effort put forth by those seeking office as we share The Good News.

Desire: I Cor. 15:58 says Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Time: John 9:4 says I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.

Effort: John 4:34 says Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

I am grateful we all have the opportunity to participate in the political process. I am more grateful Christians have the opportunity to tell of Jesus and the hope we have. Will we will have the desire, put in the time, and make the effort?
