While attending a little league basketball game to watch our niece play, I had the opportunity to reconnect with a very sweet lady in the stands who I knew during my formative years. My friend is almost 90 years young and as we talked about “how things used to be,” she simply stated everyone is so busy with fast paced lives. She said people used to slow down, spend time with their friends & family. She stopped and looked at me and said, “people loved people.”
I think “people still love people.” We are all so consumed with work, running from one event to another all the while convincing ourselves this is what “productive people do.” We should never be so busy we lose sight of our family, neighbors, friends, co-workers and those who are in need. Regardless of our schedule, when people see us, they should see someone who strives to imitate Christ by the love we show!
Christians must love one another. John 13:34- 35 says, A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another, By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
Christians must love their enemies. Matthew 5:44 says But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.
Christians must know God is love. I John 4:16 says And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
Let us show the world “Christians love people.”
