A friend shared this tongue-in-cheek warning:
“Do not let them take your temperature as you are going into the store! It’s a scam! They’re erasing your memory! I went for bread, eggs, and vegetables…but I came home with soda pop, ice cream and candy!”
I smiled as I read it because we can all identify.
Sure, we are living in strange days where we are being asked to submit to temperature checks more often than we ever have been before…but so many other aspects of our lives remain unchanged.
For example, we are still prone to making excuses and looking to blame others for our sinful and/or unwise choices. In the Garden of Eden, Adam said, “Eve made me sin!” (Gen. 3:12). Today, even though we are living in less than ideal circumstances, we can’t blame others for our actions. Our sins, shortcomings, and inadequacies are not the fault of leadership (whether that is national governments or local elderships!). We must each give an account of our own actions (Rom. 14:12; 2 Cor. 5:10).
