As we speed closer to the halfway point of 2016, some interesting data has been gathered. By and large, Americans are spending less. It is not because we have suddenly become financially responsible, most families just have less disposable income. But one study revealed that so far in 2016, the one area in which Americans have continued to spend their money is on their homes! We will still pay to beautify, secure and strengthen our homes.
While most all other retail stores are facing dismal sales, places like Home Depot and Lowe’s are doing great.
While we are willing to continue spending vast amounts of dollars on our physical homes, what type of investments are we making where it really matters? What are you spending on the heart of your home?
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (Deut. 6:4-9)
