Regardless of season or the state of the economy, it seems people are always in need physically, emotion- ally, financially, spiritually, and mentally. Some may see this as a challenge. The church should view these obstacles as opportunities to demonstrate benevolence. Benevolence is not just a term used to describe the act of giving someone food, shelter, or money. The noun definition of benevolence is a desire to do good to others. “Doing good” to others may be shaped differently depending on the needs & circumstances of individuals in need.
Galatians 6:10 says Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Galatians 2:10 says They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do.
Ephesians 4:28 says Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
As we travel through each day, let us find ways to be joy creators and door openers as we act as mail carriers delivering the good news. Much work is to be done. Jesus said, The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest (Luke 9:37- 38).
1) Be sure to do good unto all men…
2) Be mindful of the poor…
3) Be prepared to help those in need…
