My wife had a former co-worker (friend) to lose her husband to the Coronavirus this past weekend. Amy had been texting with her friend and monitoring the situation for a few days. All indications were the situation would not improve. When I learned of the gentleman’s passing, Amy told me her friend said, “This is going to hurt for a long time.” How many of us have dealt with a loss in our life where the hurt never goes away? It seems the “long time” never ends.
We all are dealing with loss of all types. When we think of “grief and loss,” we typically think of death & dying. We know “grief and loss” encapsulates those areas and much more. We have an opportunity to learn more not only about “grief & loss,” but prepare for these real life obstacles that will be placed in front of us. Will you join us so we can grow in understanding, grow in preparation, and grow in reconciliation?
Ron & Don Williams have spent more than 30 years dedicating their lives helping others deal with, prepare for, and overcoming “grief and loss.” Our congregation will be hosting a GRIEF SEMINAR with Ron & Don Williams on the following dates and will be addressing the following topics:
Friday (October 15) – 5:30 PM: “What Is Grief and Loss?”
Saturday (October 16) – 8:30 AM: “Death, Dying, Loss;” 9:45 AM “Dementia;” 11:00 AM “How Can I Prepare for Grief & Loss?”
Sunday (October 17) – 9:30 AM: “How Can the Church Help the Church?;” 10:30 AM “Sermon of Encouragement”
Note: all sessions conducted in building’s auditorium and will be live-streamed (no registration required, sessions provided at no cost).
Please know we all will encounter death, dying, and some type of loss on life’s journey. However, please know we do not have to face these challenges alone. Jesus is both compassionate (Matthew 9:35-38) and provides us rest (Matthew 11:25-30). May we turn to the Lord and each other during our difficult days. While, the hurt lasts for a long time, or longer, we can always rely on God to give us strength. Will you attend our Grief and Loss Seminar to learn more? Please contact us if you have questions. We look forward to seeing you soon!
