Do you use the rule book when you play Monopoly? I have never read the rules for Monopoly. Why? Getting to do something while making up my rules just seems easier. Playing the game with a skeleton set of guidelines takes the pressure off of trying to examine, prepare, and do what I am supposed to do the correct way. I have very little resistance from others who play the game with me when it comes to following the rules. When a problem comes up, someone will say, “Well, that’s your opinion” and we agree to disagree while keeping the game going. We must be cautious and not have this mindset when it comes to our Christian walk.
Grow in Knowledge, II Peter 3:18 says but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Strengthening our relationship with Christ requires a lifestyle change & intentional examination of the Word so as to receive favor from the Lord.
Receive Understanding, Psalm 119:104 says Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. God’s precepts take precedence over our persuasion!
Gain knowledge, II Timothy 2:15 says Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. We too, are to be a “workman” when it comes to our study & application if we are going to hold to the Standard.
Never let man’s opinion intercede your commitment to Christ. Are you going by the Book?
