In God’s Presence
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Ps. 16:11)
If joy escapes you, are you seeking Him and His presence?
In Obedience
“Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.” (Ps. 97:11)
Life lived in submission to Christ should not be boring or a drudgery – it should be a source of joy!
In God’s Word
“Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.” (Ps. 119:111)
Can you think of a passage that you turn to that just infuses JOY into your heart?
The promises of God found in Scripture should bring us joy.
In Having Hope
“The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.” (Prov. 10:28)
A life without hope is pure misery…but hope brings sunshine and life – it brings joy!
In Prayer
“Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:24)
Prayer leads to great things. Additionally, prayer should be seen as something great in and of itself. We should find joy as we spend time in prayer.
In Knowing Our Destiny
“…rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:20)
If you have been bought by the blood of Jesus and you are walking in the light, you know your destiny.
If that does not bring joy, I don’t know what would!
The anticipation of seeing Jesus:
John 16:20-22 “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy. When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.”
The disciples were being told about seeing the risen Lord. For us, we know He will come back for us on Judgment Day. What a day of joy that will be!
